Robinson (signed "19 M.R. 04" on rear turn-in) with blind tooling extending from spine bands on both covers and culminating in six inlaid green leaves (per band), along with 3 gilt dots. Title and author in gilt to spine. Gilt-ruled turn-ins with small inlaid green roundels at corners. Grey endpapers. All edges gilt. Bookplate of Axel Arundrup. Measures approx. 5" x 7". Some light fading to spine.

"Mary E. Robinson was a competent binder producing work in the Cockerell and Sangorski & Sutcliffe style. Her workshop was initially at 30 Museum Street, possibly in the rooms occupied earlier by Sylvia Stebbing and Annie Power... She first showed her work at the A&CES [Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society] exhibition in 1906...[and] her bindings were illustrated in the Art Journal (1907), the Studio Yearbook (1909), and The Art of the Book (1914)" (Tidcombe).
