Signed by The Monastery Hill Bindery on the rear lower turn-in at center and Schwartz’s “LS” monogram 1⁄4 of the way up the spine on left. Full black morocco with a script-style “Scarlet Letter” inlaid, with a stippled border. Gilt-ruled covers, culminating in each corner with a small stippled heart & thorns. Spine with five raised bands with title and author in second & third compartments; corresponding hearts and thorns tooling in remaining compartments. T.e.g. with “shining heart” gauffering near the spine. Wide, ruled turn-ins framing black silk moire endpapers, with a small stamped heart inside a larger, tooled heart at each corner.
