![[Fine Binding | Florence Kinkelin] The Visits of Elizabeth](http://www.lorenzschwartz.com/cdn/shop/files/DSC_0427_{width}x.jpg?v=1740545265)
Glyn, Elinor. The Visits of Elizabeth. London: Duckworth & Co., 1906. Bound in full crushed morocco by Florence Kinkelin with title and author in gilt to the front cover, along with gilt ruling to the edges. Five bands to spine with title to second compartment, with remaining compartments decorated with gilt ruling and small gilt dots to the corners. Gilt ruling to turn-ins, top edge gilt. "First Prize" label with Kinkelin's name tipped inside upper cover (from some form of exhibition), with her initials and date "19 FK 06" to bottom of rear turn-in. Measures approx. 5.75" x 8.5". Some rubbing to edges and spine, wear to spine tips, minor gilt loss to spine tooling, spotting and some discoloration to boards. Offsetting to endpapers, pages browned.
While relatively little is known about Kinkelin, her name does show up in a few different places, including another volume that appeared at auction with a "First Prize" label (potentially shown alongside this volume in an arts & crafts school exhibition?). A miniature portrait was painted of her in 1919--with the blog author noting she was born in 1885 and died in 1986--and she also appears to have donated a wide variety of items to the V&A Museum.
