Limited to 126 rubricated copies Provence handmade paper, 26 lettered and illuminated copies, and 4 copies on Japan vellum. This is one of the 26 illumunated copies, lettered "O". Bound in vellum and printed on Provence handmade paper with an illuminated title page in red and gold, along with hand illuminated initial letters by William Cushing Bamburgh to each of the three masques in the text. Engraved frontispiece. Stiff vellum binding with green ties and with title in gilt to the front cover.
Measures approx. 7" x 9". A few minor spots to the vellum covers, but overall a lovely copy. Lower green tie on the back cover had separated but has been reattached. A bookplate for Newton Hall, Cambridge inside the front cover with light offsetting on the facing page. Rectangular browning on the first two pages of the Masque of Blackness, apparently from a paper insert in these pages.
