[Fine Binding] Bunyan, John. The Pilgrim's Progress.

Bunyan, John. The Pilgrim's Progress. London: Henry Frowde, Oxford University Press, 1903. Limited to 1000 copies, this #329, signed by Edwin Truman. Illustrated with 25 drawings on wood by George Cruikshank from the collection of Edwin Truman--the first appearance of these illustrations. The plates are printed on Japanese vellum, the text on handmade paper. Bound in full black morocco, featuring a densely stippled and tooled Arabesque design to covers and spine. Brightly marbled endpapers of grey, red, blue, brown, and white. The binding is unsigned, but reminiscent of the work of Riviere & Son. Top edge gilt. Some light rubbing.
