The Asgard Press is most well known as the press of Carl Sandburg's first works. "In about 1903, [Philip Green] Wright installed a small handpress in the basement of his house and established the Asgard Press. Philip Wright, his wife, and their three sons operated the press, taking books through all processes from typesetting to binding. ... Professor Wright was the first to recognize the potential of [Carl] Sandburg's early experimental writing and, even at the time, spoke of the younger man's 'genius'" (Crane).
