Hubbard, Alice. Garnett and the Brindled Cow Also Other Mothers. East Aurora: Roycrofters, 1913. Printed on handmade paper, with initials and decorations colored by hand. This volume is the Ogle V4I variation of this title, with no limitation page and with the frontispiece & 3 plates not included.

Vibrant pink, yellow, orange, and grey marbled boards. Spine with title to second compartment, author to fourth compartment. Marbled endpapers. Measures approx. 6.5" x 9.75". Gift inscription to endpaper. Some rubbing to edges and corners, along with fading to spine and edges. Frenchfold leaves have been cut.
While the colophon notes the volume was bound by Charles Youngers, the colophon is the same as the limited edition (1003 copies) version of this title. The volume's design bears all of the hallmarks of Lorenz Schwartz's work for the Roycrofters, including his oft-used art nouveau leaf tool. His 1/2 and 3/4 bindings for the Roycroft Shop were never signed, and may have been bound & tooled by other members of the shop to his design. (Another copy of this binding resides within my personal collection of Schwartz's work.)
