Lang, Andrew, trans. Aucassin and Nicolette. Done into English. London: Published by David Nutt, 1887. One of 550 copies printed, all on Japanese vellum. Complete with original etched frontispiece by P. J. Hood in 2 states, as issued. Bound in sprinkled light brown calf, with a gilt-ruled design of 13 flowers done in modeled leather by Alice Shepherd (signed "AS") as the centerpiece of each board. Flowers are in light relief and accented with with delicate gilt stippling. Gilt lettering to front cover, and rather unusually, "Cedric Chivers, Binder, Bath" to the lower corner of the rear cover. Dense gilt turn-ins with patterned papers. Original wrappers bound in. Measures approx. 4" x 6.5". Some spots to covers, rubbing to edges and spine.
