With 69 illustrations from original drawings by John Tenniel, engraved on wood by the Brothers Dalziel; and five ornamental pages of Persian design by T Sulman, Jun. Engraved on wood by H. N. Woods. The decorative color title page appears not to have been bound in with this copy. Bound in full red crushed morocco Kelliegram binding (by Kelly & Sons) with a diapered floral pattern on the front cover with gilt leaves & vines and four shades of blue inlaid flowers (dark navy, navy, medium blue, robin's egg) , with title in gilt to upper corners. Five bands to spine with title and author to second and third compartments, and corresponding gilt and inlaid flower design to remaining compartments. Turn-ins with gilt vines & leaves and robin's egg blue flowers. Light blue cloth endpapers. All edges gilt. Measures approx. 7" x 9.25". Some minor spots of rubbing to edges and corners; a beautiful copy.
