Arnold, T.W. (translated by). The Little Flowers of St. Francis. London: J.M. Dent, 1903. Bound in full vellum with a large gilt frame and swirling fleurons decorating the covers. The front cover has been accented with red and green watercolors to a very pleasing effect. A checkerboard pattern in gilt on the spine has also been colored in blue, green, and red. Gold and silver endpapers, top edge green. A small sticker of the "Loescher & Seeber" bookshop in Florence is included at the bottom of the front pastedown. Gift inscription from a niece to her aunt remarking on "a delightful tour in Italy" is including on the front endpaper. Housed in original red cloth wrapper and red cloth slipcase. Measures approx. 4.25" x 6.25". Some light rubbing to edges, natural discoloration to vellum. Wrapper and slipcase faded and worn at edges.
