This copy has been extra illustrated with a magnificent full color, original watercolor painting of an Elizabethan woman by Frédéric Bourdin, along with a lute and songbook in blue, both on the half title page. Illustrated with 21 full-page photogravure plates, including 6 in sepia, from watercolors by Garrett. There are 4 smaller photogravures in the introduction, and 65 decorative head/tailpieces throughout. Bound in a full burgundy morocco Jansenist binding by Taffin, with title and date to spine and no other decoration to covers. Upon opening the book, the doublures explode with a large border of inlaid flowers in red, blue, green, white, black, purple, and yellow on a full-grained seafoam morocco background, with a border of inlaid light brown. Decorative silk endpapers, with vinyl decorative flyleaves. Uncut edges, t.e.g. Housed in a fleece-lined marbled board slipcase with morocco tips. Measures approx. 6.5" x 9.75". Spine slightly faded.
