A collection of 17th century pieces handing down advice to children, the exception being Sir Matthew Hale's piece, written for his grandchildren. Bound in dark blue morocco by The Monastery Hill Bindery in the Jansenist style, with gilt title to the spine and no other exterior decoration. Wide, rolled gilt-turn ins, with additional floral decoration and stippling at each corner. Morocco joints, light blue endpapers. Top edge gilt. Some rubbing at hinges and spine, with small (1/2") closed cracks to top and bottom of hinges. Hinges/binding sound.
