[Illuminated by Hand] The Bridal of Pennacook

Whittier, John Greenleaf. The Bridal of Pennacook. [No publisher, no date, but circa early 1900s.] Most pages illuminated by hand, in the style of the Roycrofters--with both small initials and illustrations related to the text included. Buckram binding, bound with string, with gilt title to front cover. Printed on thick watermarked "Alexandra" paper. Only two holdings noted in OCLC (at Dartmouth and Brown). An unusual--and quite scarce--example of arts & crafts bookmaking. Measures approx. 6.25" x 7". Some light rubbing and spotting to covers.
